GEO Group Files Shameless Lawsuit

Following their move for 15 year contracts, GEO Group files shameless lawsuit to protect profit-driven private prisons & detention centers.

Adelanto, CA – The multi-billion dollar private prison corporation, GEO group, has filed a lawsuit in an attempt to stop the implementation of CA State Law AB-32 which prohibits new for-profit prison contracts after January 1st.

Lizbeth Abeln, immigration detention coordinator with IC4IJ issued the following statement:

“GEO group profits from the incarceration and detention of immigrants and refugees. From medical negligence, sexual abuse, physical and verbal harassment to preventable deaths the number of human rights violations under GEO are piling up. Now they are trying to bully the state of California into complying with their harmful and violent tactics. The passage of AB-32 is a victory against these cruel and harmful immigration policies and once again, we stood up to one of the worst profiteers of incarceration. We will continue to work closely with the state of CA to challenge this egregious lawsuit and fight to fully  #shutdownadelanto and all private prisons.
