IC4IJ Rapid Response Hotline (909) 361-4588

About

The ICIJ Resource Hotline is a community-led resource that has operated for close to a decade to support immigrant communities in the Inland region of Riverside and San Bernardino counties, as well as the city of Pomona. It now aims to serve undocumented community members in the Inland Empire including the Coachella Valley and High Desert as a solution-oriented hotline by providing resources within our network.

In response to a wave of Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) raids in 2008-2009, the Inland Empire Emergency Response Network (ERN) was formed. The ERN helped increase reporting of immigration arrests, created a streamlined process for documentation of human rights violations, and expanded volunteer-based capacity to respond to urgent needs. In 2016, the ERN focused on Know Your Rights education due to increased immigration arrests in the region. In 2019, the ERN was activated to provide immediate support and reunification services to migrants whom CBP abandoned in the streets of San Bernardino, CA. In 2020, ICIJ again activated the ERN to provide support to immigrant families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our principles
Confidentiality: All volunteers must practice confidentiality at all times.
Compassion: We empathize with those who are suffering by working towards a more just and equitable world
Commitment: Our commitment is to the community and ourselves
Community-Based Care: Our support to others

Volunteer with us!

We are currently looking for bilingual volunteers to serve as operators for the IC4IJ Hotline. Volunteers will be trained to administer detailed intakes and support callers by directing them to the appropriate resources in our network! To best serve the immigrant community in the inland empire, we are looking for volunteers who are bilingual. If you are interested, please email elsa@ic4ij.org.
