No matter who is President, we must Shut Down Adelanto

San Bernardino, CA – On the eve of the 2020 presidential election, the Shut Down Adelanto Coalition stands firm in our goal and mission to end the private prison industry that profits from caging immigrants and incarcerating our communities. 

While the results of this election will have a deep impact on our advocacy work, regardless of who wins we will continue to halt all threats of expansion, fight to Shut Down the Adelanto ICE Processing Center and liberate all incarcerated immigrants.

For years we have witnessed countless testimonies, deaths at the hands of ICE, medical negligence, abuse and a complete disregard for human life. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the brave voices of people locked inside jails, prisons and detention centers, along with their advocates, have become more powerful. 

We will not stop until all immigrants are released. Our goal is altruistic and aims at shifting our societal treatment towards immigrant communities, their families and ensuring policies that allow our lives to flourish. 

We reiterate, no matter who is President, we must Shut Down Adelanto.
