IC4IJ Welcomes Relay for DACA & TPS in San Bernardino

San Bernardino, CA – The Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice welcomes the Statewide efforts to defend DACA and TPS and doubles down on the regional work to ensure residents of the Inland Empire are aware and mobilize as immigrant communities face constant attacks from a white supremacist administration.

In advance of the relay, the Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice & Partners issued the following statements:

Lizbeth Abeln, Organizer with IC4IJ said the following:

“The Immigrants rights movement in the Inland Empire is led by those who are most impacted, those of us who grew up in this region and understand the nuances of our struggles.”

“The trump administration and his base is uniquely present in the Inland Empire and we continue to fight against the racist, cruel and hateful policies imposed by his administration. The IE is home to over a million immigrant community members and we stand together in our fight to defend DACA & TPS.”

“We not only welcome the State-Wide relay with the goal of elevating the stories of our members but will continue mobilizing throughout our neighborhoods to ensure that our community knows that they are not alone.

Najayra, Valdovinos, Youth Engagement Coordinator at Inland Empire Immigrant Youth Collective:

“The Inland Empire has over 1-million immigrants and we are constantly at the frontlines of the anti-immigrant attacks. Though DACA faces uncertainty, we will continue to fight for permanent status. Months ago we supported the passage of the historic Dream & Promise act which is a reflection of our struggles and responds to the needs of our community so no one gets left behind.
