CBP and ICE Presence Confirmed in the Inland Empire Region, is it Time for Better Policies that Protect Immigrant Communities
San Bernardino, CA – On April 21st, 2023 immigrant rights advocates and concerned community members confirmed U.S Border Patrol presence in the Victorville and Barstow area. The operations have been occurring for at least a week and over a dozen marked and unmarked vehicles including large passenger buses have been well documented through photos and videos.
The presence of the U.S Border Patrol is alarming and concerning for Californians who have fought to undo the fear and violence immigration operations have caused unto our communities.
“It is difficult to have to continue my daily routine knowing that my normal life is in danger. My hope is to be able to prosper and move forward with my family without any fear” said Barstow Resident.
“Everyone deserves to feel safe in their community. Our immigration system, however, is doing the opposite. It is time to change our approach to one based on relief and care for immigrant families” stated Miriam Rodriguez Organizer at the Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice.
